For several years after the introduction of toric contact lenses were able to seamlessly correct farsightedness or nearsightedness. Regular contact lenses could not be addressed and that why toric contact lenses aroused out of a need. But correcting there eye problem (astigmatism) still need to be worn glasses. Our vision problems usually happen due to the eye focus incorrectly light rays from retina. Hyperopia leads the light rays focus behind of retina, and myopia lead light ray eye in front.

This unique designed able to solve the light ray scattering, and providing a clear vision.

Even though with different shape are made, Toric lenses are made from the same material as regular contact lenses. Toric contacts lenses are available in soft, hard or even with rigid gas permeable (RGP). If compare with regular contact lenses, toric lenses allowed to switch around the eye—the toric lenses shape remain firmly in the eye cornea to prevent the light ray scattering.

Toric contact lenses are produced to fix more than one vision issue, like nearsightedness and farsightedness. With this unique shape make them harder to produce correctly, and the procedure of eye exam is complex.

With unique shape and good quality, toric contact lenses are very costly. Those with mild nearsightedness may consider using normal lenses to avoid extra cost. The cornea will conform partially with the shape of the lens and reducing the light rays scattering. Toric lenses may not play a role for mild astigmatism. Only your eye doctor can decide for you.

Those who need to have toric lenses, there are many choices. Single or multi focal lenses are available. You may get toric lenses as regular lenses—daily disposable contact lenses, monthly contact lenses and even with extended wear.
